cigarette

The specific gene, AZGP1, produces a protein that provides the breakdown of fat. Cigarette smoke makes this gene work faster, making a slim line so easily maintained. This shows a study from Cornell University in New York.

For the study researchers examined the cells of healthy lungs and lungs of smokers. AZGP1 showed that the gene was active smokers in the lung.

Other studies even showed that the protein plays an important role in weight loss. Tests on mice revealed that there was no diet to lose weight, but if they got enough of the protein inside.

Anti-Smoking Organizations warn however that this study should be no reason for their deadly habit of smoking to justify.

Never a fever bladder. Bladder is an annoying and painful. Many people suffer from or know someone who has. Such blister in your mouth is and will always be a disfiguring facial inconvenient.

What is a fever bladder anyway? And what can you do about it?A fever is a rash of blisters bladder or around your lips, caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).

More than 90 percent of the population carries the virus.If you called the virus infected your body through the skin or mucous membrane. At an early stage of the first calls HSV infection within the nerves of the skin, where it nestles in the ganglion and remains dormant. Only when the virus becomes active, has the fever bladder.

When the virus becomes active depends on certain factors, such as a reduced resistance, menstruation, stress or fever. Hence the name fever bladder.

Someone who has dealt a blow fever, can say exactly when one comes back. The place where the bladder is fever, or is sensitive and painful, or even numb. Also at that location to your skin tingling, itching or glow. After the first symptoms usually takes between three to nine days before you actually get blisters.

The vesicles are filled with a watery or yellowish liquid, drying and finally to scabs. The sores are painful when they are at their peak and no crusts are formed. The scabs eventually fall off naturally.

It takes about one to two weeks before your bladder completely fever disappeared. If you remain off, you will not blow your fever scar, but if you scratch open the blisters, scars can be created.

Avoid contamination
Cold sores are contagious. By kissing, cuddling, touching others through sexual contact or can transfer the virus. You’ve chance of contamination from about three days before the creation of the blisters until the blisters have dried. The fluid from the blisters is very contagious, because it’s the virus.

As long as you are not blisters have dried, so you can better not kiss or hug. A lip balm with someone is not a good idea.

Vinegar for food preparations containing between 4 and 8 percent acetic acid, obtained by biological processes.

Many eligible for food production: grapes, apples, melons, potatoes, berries, dates, cereals etc. The only condition is that they contain enough sugar or carbohydrates can be fermented into alcohol. Then put the vinegar bacterium, Acetobacter, which in acetic alcohol.

Some types of vinegar, including balsamic, have for years in wooden barrels. This provides a rich variety of flavors and enhances the applications in the kitchen. The simple industrial vinegar contains acetic acid only. The rest is water.

Acid Therapies
Supporters consider natural remedies (non-industrial) vinegar in a food that would help prevent cancer. But a convincing proof of this was still not delivered. Studies, mostly performed in animals, conflicting.

Some people believe you can lose weight by during the day regularly as (apple) vinegar or vinegar to drink to take tablets. That the acid the stomach makes shrink together and you eat less so, seems plausible, but is not correct. The stomach is excellent protection against acids. They make themselves the strongest acid that occurs in our body. There is also no evidence that vinegar would increase the fat burning.

There are other interesting effects. After one spoonful of vinegar to a breakfast rich in carbohydrates would get the rest of the day 200 to 275 kcal per day less food. It would also give a greater feeling of satiety.

However, these findings are not sufficient to promote a thin vinegar-maker. The studies in this respect were too small and too short term. The investigations into the effect of vinegar on the gastric emptying conflicting.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance that prevents the cells of our body. The substance is transported in the form of protein particles called lipoproteins. This allows the body to two types: low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL).

LDL is called bad cholesterol. This cholesterol can cause blockages in the arteries, heart disease effect. HDL carries excess cholesterol down to the liver and therefore is called good cholesterol.

Cholesterol is mostly created in the body by the liver. In addition we get the dust in through our food. Cholesterol is mostly found in animal fats. Meat, sausage, bacon, butter, cheese, chocolate and other fatty foods all contain large amounts of cholesterol.

Under control
It is important that you keep your cholesterol under control. An increased cholesterol levels in addition to heredity, gender, smoking, age and hypertension a major risk factor in the development of cardiovascular disease.

Total cholesterol should be expressed in conventional units, less than 5. Is the value between 5 and 6.5, then a modified diet in many cases sufficient. At values higher than 6.5 you need to use medication.

Your doctor can measure what your cholesterol levels and whether they are justified.

Treatment necessary
Pneumonia is associated with much coughing, phlegm, high fever, breathlessness and a feeling of malaise. When your immune system is not sufficiently able to adequately fight this infection, treatment is needed.

The trachea divides into two airways (main bronchi), which ramify to smaller and smaller bronchi. The smallest airways – the bronchioles – have a diameter of about one millimeter, they end in a kind of grape bunches (called alveoli or air sacs). Every human has about 1 million alveoli that are the size of a football coverage.

The alveolar gas exchange takes place between blood and breathing air: oxygen is absorbed and carbon dioxide is issued. If your blood contains too little oxygen, your cells do their job properly. In a serious case of oxygen shortage, unpleasant complications such as coma, respiratory arrest and a cardiac arrest.

Pneumonia symptoms
In pneumonia the alveoli to fill with pus and other fluids, making the oxygen more difficult. You become short of breath and shortness of breath and your heart and lungs have to work extra hard for the oxygen in your blood to maintain. Pneumonia is associated with a number of specific symptoms:

* Many cough and abandonment of mucus, often yellow or green, sometimes with blood.
* Fever.
* Shortness of breath, rapid shallow breathing.
* Pain in the (deep) breathing.
* Overall malaise: fatigue, clammy / sweating, muscle aches, decreased appetite, headache.
* Cyanosis: blue lips and / or face and fingers (including nails).

In the Netherlands, in 1948 reported a possible link between smoking and lung cancer. This was followed soon other scientific evidence that smoking can cause cancers. Especially the deceased Sir Richard Doll in 2005 from England has pioneered. Doll was the first to devastating relationship between smoking and cancer scientifically proven.

Smoking causes lung cancer. Of all people with lung cancer is nearly 90% of cases directly attributable to smoking. In 9323 deceased people to lung cancer in 2004, with 8033 times smoking was the cause. Scientists have calculated that one in seven smokers (early) dies from lung cancer.

Lung cancer in nonsmokers is not often. How great the risk of lung cancer by smoking, depending on how long and how much is smoked. There is a clear dose-response relationship. The most effective way to prevent lung cancer is not smoking.

Because passive smoking to lung cancer can also cause non-smokers are recommended to minimize the tobacco smoke of others to breathe.

Numbers
Since 1950 the Netherlands has almost 300,000 deceased from lung cancer. The majority were men. The number of men who get lung cancer in recent years become less and less. This contrasts with the dramatic increase in female lung cancer patients since the early eighties is observed. This increase is largely due to the increased number of women since the fifties has become smokers.

Smoking and other cancers
Besides lung cancer has shown a relationship between smoking and some other cancers. These are:

* Cancer of the mouth or pharynx
* Esophageal cancer
* Stomach cancer
* Pancreatic cancer
* Liver cancer
* Kidney
* Bladder Cancer
* Cervical Cancer
* Acute myeloid leukemia

If you have cancer or you have smoked, this is annoying to hear. You simply smoked, and you can not undo. What you still can do is encourage people around you to stop smoking. You know what the consequences might be, and you’re the right person to that of your partner, children, family, friends and colleagues across.

If you do not have cancer, you then consider this:

* One in four smokers dies early (between the 35th and 69th year of life) to the effects of smoking. This is like a gun to your head, which one of the four rooms is loaded.
* Every year, more than 9000 new cases of lung cancer in, and almost 9000 people die of lung cancer. By comparison, the number of victims per year over 1000.
* Substances in tobacco smoke affect a gene that protects the body against cancer. Thus smoking causes cancer.
* Smoking is more dangerous than before. Light cigarettes do people smoke more and inhale deeply. The amount of carcinogens inhaled is greater.

It is very difficult to stop smoking. Smoking is a true addiction, and it is understandable if you can not stop love. Despite all the tough stories, succeeds only three of the 100 people without assistance to stop smoking.

A laparotomy is the surgical opening of the abdomen by an incision. When a laparotomy is done for a diagnosis, speak no va proeflaparotomie .Door the advent of other diagnostic tools, such as laparoscopy, the proeflaparotomie do less and less frequently used. A laparotomy is performed not only as a research method, but also as a treatment of a previously undetected abnormality. A laparotomy is a surgery, so can the “normal” problems after an operation expected. Some specific problems after a laparotomy may be:

- Parotitis. After a laparotomy, a patient during certain time given orally (ie by mouth). The salivary glands and particularly the parotid gland are thus insufficient to stimulate saliva production, mainly in the elderly may result in an inflammation of the parotid gland. The result is severe pain with high fever. one can try to prevent the Speek selsecretie regular stiumleren, such as lemon drops or lemon swabs.

- Wound infection. Especially in abdominal surgery where the colon should be opened, can cause infection (through faeces, stools) and it has developed an infection. This is obviously very annoying for a patient. It extends the recording time and the chance wonddehiscentie (the open edges of the wound) and scar fractures is greater. Infection also called an adverse effect on the cosmetic outcome of scar. Many of these infections are now prevented by the operation once for a combination of antibiotics to give. After the operation are not attached but seriously infected wounds left open. This allows the wound flushed and the risk of infection significantly reduced. Also heal wounds in this way are often very beautiful, it will ultimately remain a small scar on onderodet not a scar that was triggered by traditional suturing the wound.

- Paralytic ileus. After abdominal surgery a few days are always the gut paralysis. The two main reasons for this are: manipulation of the intestines and peritoneum during surgery, or present a series of peritonitis before surgery. Usually the paralysis does not have too many problems because it directly measures. The patient has usually been a stomach tube and nothing per os, so that the entire digestive tract rest. After a short time turns back and spontaneous peristalsis, the patient winds to produce or stool. Only then may begin to load the gastrointestinal tract, first with liquid, solid foods later.

- Vomiting. Nausea and vomiting are fairly often after abdominal surgery. A magsonde symptoms can often occur. When to start early with moisture and / or food (before the function of the intestine is returned), this causes an accumulation in the stomach. There may be many liters accumulate in the stomach and the patient will ever smaller amounts of brown fluid vomiting. If not treated, leads to shock.

- Lung problems. Because of the pain using the patient’s abdominal muscles and diaphragm insufficient. The breathing is shallow and therefore patients do not dare to cough up any mucus that plugs the airway closing not cough away. Behind these clots, infections occur that can spread easily over the lung. This has ultimately resulted pneumonia. Prevention is better and the patient receives the following advice:
1. Smoking before and after surgery should be avoided,
2. After surgery, the patient well and sighs not suppress the cough,
3. The patient is in bed already active as possible, for example by pulling on the bedgalg (the parrot).
